Internet CME & the Rural Anaesthetist

Objectives

By the end of this workshop participants will:

  1. Have a basic understanding of how the internet is organised into domains and networks.
  2. Be able to send and receive e-mail to individuals or groups using plain text and attached files
  3. Be able to perform a Medline search using publicly available tools.
  4. Be able to search the Internet for information using general and specialist search engines.
  5. Be able to evaluate the quality of information obtained from the internet.
  6. Consider the option of creating a web site as part of your practice.
  7. Evaluate this presentation using an online form.

Target Audience

This presentation was composed for the CME event "Continuing Education and the Rural Anaesthetist" and is particularly relevant to those who have perhaps had a look at 'the net' but not yet been able to find anything useful to do with it. Whilst the presentation is titled 'Rural' in cyberspace there is of course no distinction between rural and metropolitan so the basic principles shown here apply to both.
